Its a hard job, but we are willing to do it. :-)
Trip Lee's "Between Two Worlds", I have to say, is one of my favorite projects he has released.
"The Invasion (My Hero)"
Let me first say that the video for this track is AMAZING! I love the concept, love the imagery, and I love the way he sets up and ends the video. Trip has an unbelievable way of drawing you in and setting you up for a revelation from God, and this world BADLY needs such a thing. Its also intereseting how Trip has used a technique that secular music has tried to use to seduce the saints, "sound"
I think what has attracted many people who have not known who Trip is prior to now is the actual track. It is very "Digitially melodic" and the featured singer Jai has a sort of full, open, and versatile sound to her voice that I really enjoy. The last part of the first verse is a section I would offer to back up my previous claim of Trip's ability to "set up" his listeners:
"Education can't fix it, more dough just leads to more sin Medicine is temporary, government seems so thin With all these weighty problems, that ain't shrinking they just growing Who's adequate to save us, how about He knew no sin?"
The lyrics to the hook are equally compelling, to the point that when I really thought about what Jai was saying, it moved me to tears:
"Like a G5 yeah you rushed to rescue me. Took a cross in exchange for a throne to save me. You began the work and I know you'll finish And make all things right when you come back Cause you're my hero. You already saved the day Cause you're my hero, and I know you're coming back for me"
Such a bold statement for Christ that was made with this song, such a word-based redemption message that most artists who get to this "cross-over" point, put to the side for more money.
So with that being said I would urge the body of Christ to pray for artists like Trip Lee that the Lord would give them strength to continue reppin Christ TO THE FULLEST without compromise so that The WORLD has access to the truth of the Gospel and the Truth of God's Word. So many artists are either writting for the
Body (which is not necessarily a bad thing, we need to have the access to the music that matches our life and lifestyle) or they are writting from the standpoint of trying to pull people away from secular music by mimicing it....
Christian Artists are called to be ministers and use what they have to the Glory of God, lifting CHRIST so that HE can compel them to come. "And I, If I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32
Do check out "My Lord" (My Favorite track) and "Prognosis" (My other favorite)!
